Santa Maria Assunta in Cielo's Church

It was built in the 5th century A.D. on a pagan temple dedicated to the cyber goddess used for the Christian rite, the cathedral underwent several modifications.


Fu edificata nel V secolo d.C. sorse su un tempio pagano dedicato alla dea Cibele adibito al rito cristiano, la cattedrale subì diverse modifiche.


Elle fut édifiée au Ve siècle après J.-C. construite sur un temple païen dédié à la déesse cibele consacrée au rite chrétien, la cathédrale subit plusieurs modifications.

Valvisciolo's abbey

Built in strict Romanesque-Gothic-Cistercian style, it is one of the greatest masterpieces of the province after the abbey of fossanova. Tradition has it that this abbey was founded in the 12th century by Greek monks and was occupied and restored by the Templars in the 13th century. When this order was dissolved in the 14th century, the Cistercians took over.

Edificata in rigoroso stile romanico-gotico-cistercense è uno dei massimi capolavori del genere della provincia dopo l'abbazia di Fossanova. La tradizione vuole che questa abbazia sia stata fondata nel XII secolo da monaci greci e sia stata occupata e restaurata dai Templari nel XIII secolo. Quando nel XIV secolo questo ordine venne disciolto subentrarono i Cistercensi.

Construit dans un style strictement roman-gothique-cistercien est l’un des plus grands chefs-d’œuvre du genre de la province après l’abbaye de fossanova. La tradition veut que cette abbaye ait été fondée au XIIe siècle par des moines grecs et ait été occupée et restaurée par les Templiers au XIIIe siècle. Quand au XIVe siècle cet ordre fut dissous, les cisterciens succédèrent.

Petrara's tower

Torre Petrara is a medieval tower located in Monticchio, hamlet of sermoneta, in the province of Latina. The tower is characterized by its particular position, in equilibrium on a rock spur.
It was built in the XII century by the family of Caetani, Sirs of Sermoneta, as a watchtower to prevent the attacks of enemies.


Torre Petrara è una torre medievale situata a Monticchio, frazione del comune di Sermoneta, in provincia di Latina. La torre è caratterizzata dalla sua particolare posizione, in equilibrio su uno sperone di roccia.
Venne costruita nel XII secolo dalla famiglia Caetani, Signori di Sermoneta, come torre di avvistamento per prevenire gli attacchi dei nemici.


Torre Petrara est une tour médiévale située à Monticchio, fraction de la commune de Sermoneta, dans la province de Latina. La tour est caractérisée par sa position particulière, en équilibre sur un éperon de roche.
Elle fut construite au XIIe siècle par la famille caetani, seigneurs de sermones, comme tour de guet pour prévenir les attaques des ennemis.

Caetani's castle

The castle was built by order of the family annibaldi, at the beginning of the thirteenth century, the manor was born more as a military fortress, in a strategic point of the territory between Rome and Naples, than as a noble residence: The outer walls are more than three metres thick and the whole structure is protected by a ring of walls resting on the living rock. Only the male and a counter tower called "male" remain of this first construction.


Il castello venne costruito per volere della famiglia degli Annibaldi, agli inizi del Duecento, il maniero nacque più come fortezza militare, in un punto strategico del territorio tra Roma e Napoli, che come residenza nobiliare: le pareti esterne sono spesse oltre tre metri e tutta la struttura è protetta da una cinta muraria che poggia sulla roccia viva. Di questa prima costruzione restano solo il maschio e una controtorre detta "maschietto".


Le château fut construit par la volonté de la famille des anniversaires, au début du XIIIe siècle, le manoir naquit davantage comme forteresse militaire, dans un point stratégique du territoire entre Rome et Naples, que comme résidence noble : les murs extérieurs sont épais de plus de trois mètres et toute la structure est protégée par une enceinte murale qui repose sur la roche vive. De cette première construction il ne reste que le mâle et une contre-tour appelée "garçon".

Sermoneta's gardens

This is a typical English garden, started by a caetan gelasio in 1921, in the area of the disappearance of a medieval nymph town, of which today there are only several ruins, some of which were restored during the creation of the garden.


Si tratta di un tipico giardino all'inglese, iniziato da Gelasio Caetani nel 1921, nell'area della scomparsa cittadina medioevale di Ninfa, di cui oggi rimangono soltanto diversi ruderi, alcuni dei quali restaurati durante la creazione del giardino.


Il s’agit d’un jardin typiquement anglais, commencé par le glacier caetani en 1921, dans la zone de la ville médiévale de nymphe disparue, dont il ne reste aujourd’hui que plusieurs ruines, dont certaines ont été restaurées lors de la création du jardin.

Cathedral's bell tower

It is a bell tower of 24 meters, but it is distinguished by its particular decorations and columns in Romanesque style.
